Im Keller eines Wohnhauses im Sophienring kam es am Mittwochmorgen gegen 9.15 Uhr zu einem Brand im Keller. Nachdem ein Bewohner auf den Brand aufmerksam geworden war und nachschaute, schlugen ihm beim Öffnen der Kellertür bereits Flammen entgegen. Er verständigte die örtliche Feuerwehr, die mit 10 Einsatzkräften den Brand löschten. Der entstandene Sachschaden wurde nach ersten Schätzungen auf 2500 Euro beziffert. Als Brandursache gilt ein Defekt an der Stromführung als sehr wahrscheinlich.
